Gary Chan

The Honourable Gary Chan Hak Kan is currently the youngest member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong . He is also a member of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong .

Chan graduated from the Department of Government and Public Administration at Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was a member of Sha Tin District Council from 1999 to 2003. He was appointed as special assistant to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Sir Donald Tsang, from 2006 to 2008, with the salary of HK$77,000 at that time.

In 2008, Chan followed Lau Kong Wah to participate in the Hong Kong legislative election, 2008 after resigning from special assistant to Chief Executive. Under the party-list proportional representation voting system, Lau's team got a total of about 100,000 votes in New Territories East Constituency, brought Chan into the Council. Both Lau and Chan won the seats.
